I'm from Singapore and I like retro bicycles, and some of which are roadsters, as well as all bikes produced in the 1980s to 1990s. So here's what that has got me started in this hobby.
Flying Pigeon 28" roadster
The Flying Pigeon, for those who are not familiar with the brand, is one of the leading Chinese bicycle manufacturers that rose to its current fame with the help of the Chinese Communist Party back then, in the 1950s, when it produced its first roadster bicycle (Wikipedia). Today, it continues to produce roadster bicycles, in addition to several other types of bikes. So here's mine..
So this was how it looked like when I bought it in 2008. So to everyone out there in Singapore, if you like retro bikes, its still available brand new!! go to the address below to get one.. the supply has to be constant for this genre of bikes to stay here!!
HDB North Bridge, 13 North Bridge Road, #01-3962 (S)190013
Having being sick of rust problems, I painted almost everything black...this is my daily rider btw.. and chrome n the tropics definitely doesn't go well with each other.. =x
Fast forward to 2010, I got sick of having the basket in front, as it looked dorky, and was in the way of a headlamp which I had always wanted to buy.. so it was relocated to the rear.. note the black handlebars too.. due to rust problems.. it looked kinda cool though
After 2 years of abuse, the original saddle finally got tired and one of its springs broke.. so I got this flying pigeon plastic saddle with 3 springs.. this is definitely very much more comfortable than the original one.. and of course, more durable..
The basket wasn't so happy living on the rear rack.. and finally gave up.. so I picked up a milk crate and this is my new basket..
Alrite.. so that's all for my flying pigeon story..
